What your student walks away with

Not just a finished essay.

Most essay help starts with the prompt. I start with the student — because an essay that sounds like everyone else's is the one that gets skimmed.

A vision they can name

Guided exploration of what they actually want — the longings under the résumé, the discontents they've been ignoring. That's the raw material for an essay only they could write.

Direction, backed by diagnostics

Personality and interest assessments narrow the field of majors and career paths, so "undecided" becomes a short list they can speak to with confidence.

An accountability structure

Daily and weekly deliverables, check-ins every week, and a hard calendar. Not "almost done" in October. Submitted.

Why I'm opening this now

I kept seeing the same two things.

Over the past year I've worked with one student after another on college applications, and the pattern never changed. A capable senior sitting in front of a blank document, stuck. And a parent beside them, trying to help with a process that has changed completely since they went through it themselves.

Twenty-five years and hundreds of students later, and now as my own children move through the process, I am acutely aware of how hard this season is on a student and family, so I have opened up a few intensive coaching spots to help students struggling in real time, to finish the application season with confidence and real results.

8Weekly Writing Room seats

That's the whole cohort, and the numbers aren't a marketing device. Six is what I can carry while still doing check-ins with every student every week and staying in touch with every parent. Eight is what fits in a room where I can still get to everyone in two hours.

How to start

Four steps, this week.

Book a free overview call

You and your student, together. I'll ask where the essays stand, what schools are on the list, and what's actually in the way.

Reserve the spot

If it's a fit, a $100 deposit holds your student's place. It applies in full to your package — it isn't an extra charge.

Your student's overview call

We start immediately. The Overview Call is where I meet your student wherever they are. Either the calendar gets upgraded and the first draft started, or we work with what they've got on paper, building confidence and enthusiasm with every call!

Pay the balance and schedule

If you started with a deposit, this is where you pay the remaining balance. Then we put every session on the calendar together. Students who pay in full can begin immediately — spots are first come, first served, so paying in full is the surest way to hold one.

Who you'd be working with

Dr. Jenny Knowles Morrison

Dr. Jenny Knowles Morrison with her two teenage daughters at a park in Austin

With my two daughters — both in the middle of this themselves.

I have two teenagers of my own in the middle of college preparation right now. I know exactly what your kitchen table looks like in October.

I also spent more than 25 years as college faculty, which means I watched thousands of freshmen arrive. The ones who thrived weren't the ones with the highest test scores. They were the ones who could answer a simple question: what are you here to do?

Almost no one had asked them that in high school — so I went and studied the system. I led the statewide study of guided pathways in Texas high schools: the HB 5 endorsement framework your own student used to choose a track, evaluated in its earliest years and published through the Bush School at Texas A&M.

Since then I've done this work directly with teenagers: as Program Director of the Handel Group's Education Division, as co-founder of Human Better EDU, and as co-leader of parent and student coaching programs within Austin ISD.

I piloted an earlier version of this program for teens several years ago but recognized a need for additional vision work underneath the essay writing support. Helping students unpack their self-limiting beliefs and gain confidence as part of their writing process, rather than walk away discouraged and anxious; that's the formula. It turns nervous high school seniors into confident adults, poised for their next big thing.

Looking ahead

From Dream to Deadline, Summer 2027.

The students who aren't scrambling in October are the ones who did the foundational work in June. Summer 2027 is a full package for rising seniors: vision and diagnostic work first, then a written strategy and timeline for every application on the list.

Offered both remotely and in person, so students can travel and still do the work. By July 15, they're writing drafts.

  • Vision, diagnostics, and career-path exploration in June
  • A school-by-school essay strategy and timeline
  • Remote and in-person options
  • First drafts underway by July 15
  • Optional fall continuation at priority rates
